Graphic Recording in Chiang Mai, Thailand

From 05 to 12 December 2022
I did graphic recording with APWLD (Asia Pacific forum on Women, Law, and Development) on early December 2022. APWLD is feminist organisations and individual activists in Asia and The Pacific. Over the past 34 years, APWLD has actively worked towards advancing women`s rights and development justice. One of APWLD`s program is FPAR (Feminist Participatory Action Research). The regional FPAR APWLD reflection meeting itself was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Beautiful Wat.
Chiang Mai is located on the northside of Thailand. Chiang Mai offers a variety of destinations to suit holidaymakers tastes. Tropical climate and with warm and humid weather all year around. Temperature range from 25 - 31 Celcius. I visited "Wat Pan Thao" while walking to the old city. The Vihara is beautiful. Opposite the entrance is a large golden stupa.

Same Story Different Countries
The participants of FPAR meeting have explored one of the following question: What past experienced by women who lived an Asia and The Pacific continue to impact our lives today? The question was explored through the presentation and discussion, and listening to the voices of those who personally experienced with the FPAR movement. I used cartoon’s character to interpret the spokesperson. In my opinion it is important to engage the participants.

The Old Town.
The old city of Chiang Mai known for it`s cafes, street food vendors, photo spot, and historic sights. Tha Phae Gate, is one of the famous landmark in Chiang Mai. Located on the eastern side of the wall.
The more getting night, the situation is more attractive

Theory of Change
This theoritic concepts will help you understand better how different phenomena are connected. I used Escher’s stairs for the inspiration in one page. It helps the storyteller to understand about the current situation.

The Street Food
Thank god for the street food vendors. I ain`t felt stranger anymore at the time. Everywhere you go in Chiangmai you will find the street food vendors. Preparing and serving from their simple stalls. You can walking along Charoen Pet and Charoen Suk road . On the street you can find the stalls of chicken biryani, khao soi, mango with sticky rice, or satay. Chicken biryani is Thai take from Muslim dish. Yes, the streetfood is the immediate way to know Chiang Mai better.
