Forest Fires Effects on Ecosystem
Wildfires are one of the main causes of forest destruction. Mainly caused by human activities: land clearing and illegal logging. Prof. Bambang Hero Sahardjo, Indonesian forest forensic expert, said in "Economic Valuation" event (Feb 2020), that "Over exploitation will have direct and indirect response of the ecosystem, which lead to the environment destruction." We need environment management immediately. "Burned peatlands will not return to initial condition. You need restoration supervision, hydrologi system development, environment dispute verification, and vegetation," he added at the same event.
And it is matter to the topic, women are playing an important role in the prevention of wildfires. Women are leading a number of green initiatives. For example is the group of peat monitoring in South Kalimantan, Indonesia.
