Ubud for Beginner. A Sketch in Short (1)
A Sketch of Petulu village
Ubud is one of a popular destination in Bali. You’ll find from the ancient Hinduism and Buddhism sites to modern vibes spot in here. There are countless exciting things to do: walking, eating, healing, or drawing. I’ve made some sketches in several places in Ubud, from late January to early February. For your information, Ubud when it rains, offering an exciting experiences. It can be soothing and alerting at the same time. Here are some affordable lists:
The quote
When you wake up in the morning, maybe you can get a book, take some time to write your thoughts in your journal or just seeing a raindrops on your window. Or you can get a breakfast in a plenty of warungs in Ubud. For example Ubud Warung in Hanoman street. Price range in between IDR 30.000 - 50.000. If you want more cheaper, you can go to a long Ubud Raya street’s pedestrian. You’ll find “Nasi Jinggo” or street vendors at low prices. I ate Nasi Jinggo and it cost only IDR 5000, without drinks.
The legendary of Kajeng Street
Kajeng street located near Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati. It only take a 5 minute walk from Ubud Palace. You can start from Jalan Raya Ubud and finish it on the same road. Along the Kajeng’s road you’ll find a number of warungs, a lovely walking road (cars are not allowed to get in this road) road, at the northern side you’ll find a rice field and small cafe’s with a some soothing views.
Ubud Terrace Field
Petulu village
The Petulu village located at the northern side of Ubud. This village still retains the atmosphere of Balinese traditional village. Petulu is also home to a colony of Herons birds or “Kokoan” in local language. The birds flock here because of specific tree found here. It called a pohon bunut wol. It is found in lining street as well as the local house compounds.
At the opposite of Puri Ubud
for your information, if you have a plan to walk a long Jalan Raya Ubud, don’t forget to park your motorcycle in Ubud Market basement parking.
The Sketch of Ganesha Bookstore
In front of Ganesha Bookstore, Ubud
I have to turn around my motorbike, twice, to find “Ganesha Bookshop”. They had a tagline “independent bookseller and new and used books”. Yes, they are stock rare and used books for interested customers. The smell of old books is very fascinating. It called “bibliosmia”, it caused by the chemical breakdown of compounds within the papers. I found some art, craft, folklore, and Indonesia’s culture books, especially about Balinese traditional heritage. And this bookshop have a free books, putted on the outside small display. Nice!
