Image and Memory : Sketch Workshop in Nyaman Gallery, Bali.
The kiddos: Your workhop activities should encourage people to feel empowered while drawing. I made the opening shout with “Ole! Oke!”
“You can draw” mantra!
I truly believe anyone can draw! Start with basic shapes
"So, what am I supposed to do? just sit here?" said Leah (maybe 8 years old), from Lebanon.
"Nope .. you are not only sitting here but also sketch something.." I said to her while waiting a coffee :)
Adult class: doing a bit more doodling for warming up
Encouraging the participant to share their artwork
#livesketching workshop in Nyaman Gallery, Bali (December 2019) is the one time during the day that we set aside to be create something together. There are 7 kids participants on the 1st. Day, from several countries : French, Italian, England, US, and Lebanon. There's more to being an artist that just living in the same acitivities : we interact more between races and ages.
.
in 2 hours they are going to discover the #visualstorytelling and #livesketch. and voila! here comes the pictures :)
I’am sure some kids grinned when I start talking. Because of my Sundanese accent, maybe? But the workshop was going smoothly…
On the next day, I made a more slowing down class with adults. Most of them are French and British. It was hard to listen in different accents. I tried so hard to make the process easier.
How do we go about it?
Yes, We had warmed up!
So, Each person guided through to spotted some space in the gallery. Then, they were spread out to those corners or space and started to sketch.
Everyone is happy..
I believe drawing is about attempting something beyond language. It is a way to communicate!
